How Can I be Kinder To Myself?
I recently went on a girl's day, and we hit multiple antique and thrift shops (one of my favorite things to do)! The first booth I entered at an antique shop was a single teal book titled A Guide For Remembering Things You Like To Do, with a big heart encasing "SELF-CARE." Not to mention, it was $2.50. So naturally, I bought it!
I thought about everything that caused me to forget about the good things for my soul. I get so caught up in the chaos that I forget to be kind to myself. I thought sharing might remind you to think about ways to be kinder to yourself! I encourage you to give yourself 5 minutes after finishing my blog to reflect and ask yourself,
How can I be kinder to myself?
Here's what I've got, friends!
1. Accepting where I'm at in life as a good and right thing. I am where I'm meant to be right now.
2. Positive self-talk. Accepting my body, looks, and flaws as what makes me.
3. Start giving myself the same love I give others. I show up for so many people, but do I show up for myself?
4. Spend more time at my grandma's grave. It'll help me heal, and it is time I can set aside for just us.
5. Spend more time with family without feeling the need to rush home. Time with them is precious and limited.
6. Start taking better care of my health. As a diabetic and celiac, I have responsibilities, and I'm old enough to take care of myself. Our bodies are a temple.
7. Pray more. Having a higher power is taken for granted, but giving up all control is freeing.
8. Play with my animals more. In all the madness, I often forget that we are their humans and entire existence. They live for those moments, and so should I.
9. Take in more of nature. There is so much to gain from being outside. I've felt better since we moved to the country. My mental well-being has thanked me!
10. Wake up each day and be grateful for what and who I have in my life.
Now, think about ways that correlate to your life for a few minutes. Make a mental note or pull up your notes on your phone. Being your best self is how you can be the best for others!
Thanks for reading!
With love,
Jenna K.
